My Long Weekend in Liverpool

Ahh Monday. The weekend is truly over and the next one is just so far away. The Monday blues are especially hard this morning after the great 3-day weekend I’ve just spent in my favourite city Liverpool.

I travelled up north with my long lost Bestie G, who has recently returned from a year studying in China, for a weekend of long over due catch ups and plenty of fun.

Despite the ridiculous traffic on the m6, we eventually made it to the big city with enough time to hit the shops and grab some bargains in the sale, and a cheeky Starbucks or two. We then drove over to my cousin’s house, who told me we had to quickly go say hi to some of my other family who live up the road. I walked over with my freshly made cup of tea (yes, a cup of tea in a mug) and walked in to a surprise going away to Australia BBQ! We had such a great evening wearing our Aussie hats and draping ourselves in the Australian flag once it started to get a bit chilly.

The next day we were up bright and early because we were taking part in the Race for Life Pretty Muddy 5k in Sefton Park. It was such a beautifully hot day, and what better way to spend it clambering over obstacles and getting covered head to toe in mud all for a good cause!

The day didn’t end there though. G and I were staying in town on the Saturday night so we would go out and dance the night away. As soon as we dropped our bags, we headed back into town for another browse around the shops. This is when we decided to bring back one of our old traditions of getting spur of the moment piercings. Previously, we have gotten nose and cartilage piercings together and this time, I walked away from the Piercing shop with a brand new tragus piercing. And let me tell you, it bloody hurt. The piercer told me she had to really shove it through because the cartilage didn’t want to give. OUCH!

After, we still had plenty of time to kill so decided to go see Spy with Melissa McCarthy and Miranda Hart which was so funny, before we headed back to our hostel to get ready for a big night out.

We had so much fun dancing away in Motel and Heebies and on sunday morning woke up feeling surprisingly fresh. We had brunch at a new restaurant called Epicure on Gradwell Street. Everything on the menu sounded incredible, but after a heavy weekend, we each had the home made granola with Greek yoghurt which was so delicious and the perfect end to such an amazing weekend.

Hope you all had a fun weekend whatever you got up to!

xoxo
